This morning after dropping CJ off at school I went to the Postal Annex. As I was getting in the car a woman was walking towards me with a very determined look on her face. I stopped, she said, "I have jumper cables, can you jump my car?" I said "I don't know how, let me look it up" and I started to look for my jumper cable instructions. She snapped at me "I know how". So I drove over to her van, she showed me how to hook up the cables. I've been shown several times, but unless it's a skill I use every day, chances are I'm not going to remember. That is why I have instructions in my car on how to use jumper cables, change a tire that sort of thing. As she is unhooking the cables from my battery she says to me "Women my age struggled and worked very hard so that women your age don't have to rely on a man." I was shocked. Usually when you help someone they say "thank you", not lecture you about women's lib. All I said was thank you, got in my car and left.
This is what I have to say about Women's Lib, Feminism, whatever you choose to call it. I am incredibly grateful. If there is one group of women that are especially grateful, it's the Stay At Home Moms. We know we have a choice, we are not forced into anything we don't want to do. We know that if/when we make the choice to go back to work we will not be shunned by other women, but supported. We know that we are usually the most important voice in our families. We know that we are not stepped on or taken advantage by anyone, we're too damn busy for that. So thank you, Abigail Adams, Susan B Anthony, Elizabeth Blackwell, Ruth Ginsburg, Clarrissa Nunn, Gena Ziebarth, Margaret Sanger, Lisa Simpson, Lucy Stone, Tina Fey, and (sorry gena) Hillary Clinton. If some of those names don't sound familiar feel free to google them, you will be amazed of how far women have come. So thank you to the countless generations of women who have stuggled to give me the freedom of choice.

AMEN!!! I really appreciate those women of the past to give me this future I now enjoy. Also, I have to thank those women of strength who stay home and raise their children (like my Mom and Theresa!) and give so much to building the future!!
