Our Little Patriot

CJ and I were watching C-SPAN, she recognized one of the candidates running for President. I asked her if she knew what he was trying to do. She said no. I told her that he wanted to be the next President of the United States of America. She said "Oh, United States of America? Like the pledge with the flag?" I said "Yes. That is where we live. Boise, Idaho is in the United States of America." She said, "Like the pledge?" Then she started saying the pledge. She has the cutest little voice. I was so proud. I asked her if she'd do it again if I got the camera.

Movie Night

Tonight the kids and I had a little movie night. We watched Aladdin and had popcorn. It was great. I especially love that they are in matching brown sweats and sitting on their little fold out couches. I love these moments.

Today was the Zoo event that CJ and Brian have been looking forward to since Nov 1 2007, Boo at the Zoo. Last year was the first year that we braved the crowd and took the kids. They looooooved it. This year was just as awesome. There were costumed characters handing out candy, astrojumps, pumpkin patch photos, face panting and (duh) all the super cool zoo animals. Kyle couldn't make it this year (work) so my incredible friend Becky helped me with the kids. Without her I would have made up a story about a horrible tragedy at the zoo and it's now closed. So, THANK YOU BECKY!! CJ was the cutest monkey out of the dozens and dozens of monkeys we saw. Brian was, I think, the only dog. The hood on his costume was so dang heavy that it just kept falling over his face, he finally just gave up and went without the hood. Somehow the kids don't see the nightmare of the crowds and all the strollers, all they see is candy, games, potential new friends, and zoo animals. It's amazing how many totally thrilled kids there were and how many long faced, grumpy parents. Lighten up guys and try to see it from your children's eyes.

CJ the Beauty Queen

This afternoon while Brian napped CJ was helping put clothes away. She got bored with that and decided that she wanted to do her hair instead. She climbed up on my sink, go out the spray bottle and a comb. Here's a couple cute pictures and a video.

As I'm posting this CJ is sitting next to me telling all about how she "flattened" her hair with the water and then combed all the knots out of it. She's so cute. I love my little girl.

Crazy Sleepers

For a few nights now the kids go to bed just fine and normal. When Kyle and I go to check in on them, they are both fast asleep in B R I A N' S bed. In his itty bitty toddler bed. Why they aren't in CJ's much larger bed is a mystery to me. There you have it. I think they would still sleep really well if we swaddled them. Each time I took a picture the flash did not wake them at all, they would shift a little, but that's it! It's crazy the conditions they can sleep in.

Painting like Picaso and OKeefe

CJ and Brian are soon to be international budding artists. At least that's what a proud mom like me believes! That's what I have to believe when I leave them alone with watercolor paints to get a glass of water. When I came back I saw that they discovered a new portable canvas. In the pictures they are naked, I was just about to put them in the bath and wanted to take one quick snap of the master pieces before the canvases was scrubbed clean.

CJ's First Field Trip

CJ's class went on their first field trip today. They went to the Pumpkin Patch. They each got to pick out a pumpkin. CJ picked out a very unique looking pumpkin, it looked like it had a large hole, (Quarter Sized) but when I looked in the hole closer instead of seeing pumpkin flesh, It was more pumpkin skin like the rest of the outside. Very strange. I did not go with her class, I couldn't find anyone to watch Brian. After I picked her up I asked how the bus ride was. This was her first time on a school bus. She's been talking about it for a couple weeks. She said the bus was cool. I asked who she sat next to, she said, "Uhm, a boy", of course I followed up with "what boy?", she looked out the car window and said, "Look at those pink leaves". She changed the subject!! This weekend we found out which little boy told CJ she was beautiful in the hall, his name is Braden. So I asked if it was Braden, she said no. I asked if it was his twin brother, Alex, she said no. I went through every boy in her class, she said no. Then I remembered that the Kindergarten class went with them. So I asked "Was it a big boy", she said "Yes". Just to be sure I asked, "Is he in your class", she said "No". Then before I could really think of much more to say she says, "He can come to my house any day". I think she's taking after her mom that way, she does like the older boys.

Sandwich Art

Oh the long lost art of sandwich art has resurfaced in my house. CJ was eating her sandwich when she decided to eat it into the shape of the state of Idaho. Since CJ did this, she's been making Idaho out of almost everything, she will tear her art paper into the shape of Idaho, she will eat crackers, chips, and toast into Idaho. It's cute

Not to be out done Brian ate his to look like a boat. He did not name the boat, so it is called The Unnamed, Unmanned Boat. By the way, his boat is pulling another littler boat behind it. It's a strong boat.

Fast Weekend

Wow what a fast weekend. Wednesday my Mom called and said that my Uncle Bob was going to be in CDA for a few days. Thursday Kyle and I decided we would make a bullet run up. I haven't seen him for several years, and Kyle has never met him. We thought it would be fun. We drove up after CJ was out of school on Friday. We spend Friday night hanging out at my Parents house catching up. Bob was trying to talk Kyle into working at Chevron in California. I'm not so sure I want to live in CA. Bob really did try, he did a pretty good job of making his case, Kyle was talking about it on the drive home Sunday.

Late Saturday morning Bob had to leave. We spend Saturday afternoon/evening at Greg and Co.'s house. CJ and Brian always love their time with their cousins, Sage, Gabe and Harley. We stayed as late as grouchy kids would allow. We had a wonderful time, visiting and playing games.

Sunday, after breakfast we took off for home. On the drive home we went through Walla Walla to see Cory, Kaylynn, Emily and Owen, and as an extra surprise, Kyle's Grandma Murray. It was really nice stop. Much better than our usual stop in Pendleton at McDonalds. Emily is just a busy little bee, always trying to help Mom and Dad. Owen is huge! He pulls himself up to stand and then isn't sure what to do. It's too cute. I am going to miss his butterfly stroke/crawl. Next time we see him he's going to running with Emily.

Overall we had a really great, FAST weekend. We are always thankful for the time we get with family. We are looking forward to My parents visit at the end of the month.

Dancing with the Super Stars

Who needs dancing with the Stars when I have CJ and Brian? I was cleaning the house and CJ and Brian were playing in their room. While I was cleaning the dining room CJ and Brian come to me and say, "Come here, come look", now any other time they have said those words, it's been very bad news. This time is was very pleasant and cute and not to mention beautiful.

Brian's Beavis Impression

One day out of the blue Brian started pulling the back of his shirt up to the top of his head. We don't watch Beavis and Butthead, mostly because it's really not on anymore. So with the encouragment of his Aunt and Uncles he did it again, this time with his arms up. The funny thing about the picture is that he's sitting so straight and his little toes are pointed, it almost looks like he's doing yoga. Thankfully he hasn't started saying "I'm the great Cornholio, I need TP for my bunghole". That son of mine is so silly. I have no idea what made him want to pull his shirt up, and walk around like that. He thinks it's funny as a chicken in tuxedo.

I'm worried about Brian

We went to rent a movie from the Red Box for the kids. Brian pointed to the new Little Mermaid movie and said he wanted to watch girls in swimsuits. Yesterday we saw the BSU cheerleaders dance and cheer. When they were done CJ instantly was right there chatting with the girls. I asked Brian if he wanted to go talk to the dancing girls, he said no, just dance. He tried to call his pregnant aunt Toot and ask her out on a date. He picked up my phone and said "Hi Toot. Want some alphabet soup and watch some TV?" Now today he laughs every time CJ says "boob". I'm concerned for my very perverted son. He is only 2 years old. Isn't this a little young to be looking at girls like that?
