I forgot that I had more zoo pics. So here they are. They are all of the kiddos, who needs wild animals when I have wild children?

Happy Mother's Day!

25 REASONS I OWE MY MOTHER

1. My mother taught me TO APPRECIATE A JOB WELL DONE. "If you're going to kill each other, do it outside. I just finished cleaning."

2. My mother taught me RELIGION. "You better pray that will come out of the carpet."

3. My mother taught me about TIME TRAVEL "If you don't straighten up, I'm going to knock you into the middle of next week!"

4. My mother taught me LOGIC. "Because I said so, that's why."

5. My mother taught me MORE LOGIC. "If you fall out of that swing and break your neck, you're not going to the store with me."

6. My mother taught me FORESIGHT. "Make sure you wear clean underwear, in case you're in an accident."

7. My mother taught me IRONY. "Keep crying, and I'll give you something to cry about."

8. My mother taught me about the science of OSMOSIS. "Shut your mouth and eat your supper."

9. My mother taught me about CONTORTIONISM. "Will you look at that dirt on the back of your neck!"

10. My mother taught me about STAMINA. "You'll sit there until all that spinach is gone."

11. My mother taught me about WEATHER. "This room of yours looks as if a tornado went through it."

12. My mother taught me about HYPOCRISY. "If I told you once, I've told you a million times. Don't exaggerate!"

13 My mother taught me the CIRCLE OF LIFE. "I brought you into this world, and I can take you out."

14.My mother taught me about BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION. "Stop acting like your father!"

15. My mother taught me about ENVY. "There are millions of less fortunate children in this world who don't have wonderful parents like you do."

16. My mother taught me about ANTICIPATION. "Just wait until we get home."

17. My mother taught me about RECEIVING. "You are going to get it when you get home!"

18. My mother taught me MEDICAL SCIENCE. "If you don't stop crossing your eyes, they are going to freeze that way."

19. My mother taught me ESP. "Put your sweater on; don't you think I know when you are cold?"

20. My mother taught me HUMOR. "When that lawn mower cuts off your toes, don't come running to me."

21. My mother taught me HOW TO BECOME AN ADULT. "If you don't eat your vegetables, you'll never grow up."

22. My mother taught me GENETICS. "You're just like your father."

23. My mother taught me about my ROOTS. "Shut that door behind you. Do you think you were born in a barn?"

24. My mother taught me WISDOM. "When you get to be my age, you'll understand."

25. And my favorite: My mother taught me about JUSTICE. "One day you'll have kids, and I hope they turn out just like you!"

I did not write this. I just thought it was a little funny. I think most of us owe our Mother's a big thank you for all these wonderful wisdom's they passed on to us. The road to wisdom is paved with mistakes.

Look What I Won!!

A Chicken!
That's the email I sent to Kyle. I've been bugging Kyle for about 2 years now for chickens. I want chickens so bad. Now that CJ's had an allergy test, we know she's not allergic to them, he's out of excuses why not. We were out for a walk when one of our neighbors wanted to show us their new chickens. Brian loved them. CJ didn't really care. Heidi (neighbor) came up with the idea of sending Kyle a message that we won a chicken from a radio contest. He didn't freak out! I think I'm one step closer to getting my chickens.

Field Trip to the Zoo!

CJ on a fake Komodo Dragon

Hissing Cockroaches. These things are really big and disgusting. On really quiet days in the Zoo you can actually hear them hissing through the glass!

Tiger

CJ doing her best model pucker!

Sleeping Bear

Goose, her nest, and eggs, in the park

Sleeping Hyena

Penguin, my favorite!

Geese and their goslings by the river.

Last Thursday was CJ's class field trip to the Zoo! CJ was excited to take all her school friends to one of her favorite places, and Brian was excited that he got to go too and hang out with the cool kids! CJ had control of the camera most the time we were there. She let me take very few of her and Brian. To be fair, we only took her camera. I should have taken mine if I wanted to take more pictures.

Mrs. Pink

CJ has a new friend. They met Saturday at this little known store called BUILD A BEAR!! I have successfully avoided Build A Bear from several years now. Saturday I finally lost the battle. CJ fell in love with Mrs. Pink. She already has a pair of shoes, a tiara, and a magic wand that she keeps safely in Mrs. Pink's house. When we got home from the mall, Brian was a little jealous. After dinner we went back and let Brian find a new friend. His friend is named Charlie. Charlie loves baseball, basketball, volleyball, football, any sport with a cool ball. Brian and Charlie get along very well.

Tuesday

Yesterday was Tuesday, you know what that means. Tee Ball Night! CJ had a game against the red team. We were very happy to even have a game. Last Tuesday's game was cancelled and so was last Saturday's game due to rain. When we woke up yesterday morning it was raining again. I was worried I was going to have to break more bad news to CJ. The afternoon brought a break in the clouds and rain. The orange team (cj's team) played a good game. I was so proud of CJ, her hitting is getting much better. After the game I took CJ across the street for a post game snack. ;0)

I Love My...

egg poacher!! I love eggs benedict. They are oh so yummy. I found a lighter hollandaise sauce recipe. As soon as I saw that I jumped for joy! I found the recipe last night, we had eggs benedict for dinner tonight! I substituted a tomato slice for the ham and paired it with steamed asparagus. Oh, it was so great, and super filling! Look for the recipe on my food blog www.dinneronmymind.blogspot.com

Music Memory Connection

"What seems to happen is that a piece of familiar music serves as a soundtrack for a mental movie that starts playing in our head. It calls back memories of a particular person or place, and you might all of a sudden see that person's face in your mind's eye." said Petr Janata, a cognitive neuroscientist at University of California, Davis.*

Why do you care? Well it's really cool. Have you ever had that moment where a song comes on that you haven't heard in a while and all of a sudden you remember an old friend, funny story, or the exact last place you were when you heard that song? I kind of had one of those moments several times over and over again for about 45 minutes.

I was tired of the same old playlist on my iphone and wanted something new. I only listen to the ipod part at the gym lately, so I wanted something up beat, duh. So I got onto itunes cruised the top songs, I had all those already. I was at a road block, I wanted something different, up beat, and familiar. Nothing was really jumping out at me. I gave up on trying to come up with a specific set of songs and decide to search by artist. What artist has the largest catalog of dance music? Who has the most dance remixes? Who has a wide variety of musical style? Then it hit me, MADONNA!!
Seriously people, who else fits that criteria? Into the search box I type, "madonna" and of course the list is miles long. I chose songs like, Lucky Star, Borderline, Material Girl, Vogue, Like a Virgin, Into The Groove, you get the idea.

The next day I set off for the gym, iphone in hand. I get onto the elliptical, turn on my music and go. I put it on shuffle, (i like surprises) and the very first song up is Borderline. All of a sudden I'm taken to my Sister's closet (house on Lacey? I think? or Pinetree?). She had a walk in closet, I'm in her closet with her. She's pulling clothes off hangers and giving me orders of what to wear with what. I'm changing as fast as I can. I'm twirling checking myself out in the mirror and then the next outfit.

Then the next song is Vogue. I'm in the basement of CDA Resort shopping plaza in a storage room with my Mom and my Sis packing gift baskets. I think I'm ultra cool because I'm "at work" (I'm like 10), my Mom is probably pretty happy she is getting time alone with her daughters and getting paid for it! My Sister, well, I think she's just there because she's getting paid.

Next song is Lucky Star. Now I'm in the our backyard, at the house on Kelly Rae, with my Sister and our cousin Kristina. They brought out a giant boom box that they plugged in on the back porch and with the help of an extension cord or two brought it down to the grass below and we are dancing. Dancing like we are super stars.

This metal jog kept going and going through my entire workout. My 45 minutes on the elliptical just flew right by. I thought, that was cool. The next day, same thing happened again! This has been going on for about a week now. I think it's great. I just wanted to share that. I never knew Madonna was that connected to my Sister and Mom in my brain. I love it. It's super nice to be able to take them to the gym with me.

May Day

Yesterday for May Day the kiddos and I delivered flowers to almost everyone we know in our area. CJ even went to school early just so that she could deliver flowers there too! Brian liked the part where he got to ring the doorbell and running away. CJ liked carrying the flowers as if she just won the gold medal in the Olympics and was on the podium singing her national anthem. Those are my goofy kids!

PS Sorry no pics. I must be slacking!
