Weekend Fun

Sorry this took me so long to post. I feel like I've been so lost this week. I can't believe today is only Wednesday, it feels more like Friday. Anyway. This weekend Danny came to visit Kyle. Saturday morning Kyle, Danny and Brian went fishing. They came back empty handed but I'm sure they all had a nice afternoon. CJ, Becky and I walked down to the market and then to a few consignment shops. We came back empty handed too. I did have tons of fun trying on all the clothes. CJ loved just being with girls.
Then on Sunday we all (minus Danny) went huckleberry picking. We had a vague idea of where we were going. Sharp Eye Kyle spotted some from the car as I was driving down some random dirt road. We packed a lunch and packed ourselves happy. We finally rolled back into town around 7, picked up a couple Hot N Ready's from Little Caesars. We had our huckleberry milkshakes and fell into a nice deep sleep! The next morning I made huckleberry pancakes. It was awesome. When I finally got around to freezing our bounty we were already down to 3 quarts. Bummer. Hopefully we'll get to go one more time this year. I really, really want to make huckleberry cobbler. Doesn't that just sound oh so yummy?

BTW, Blogger is acting weird and I don't feel like editing the html to put the pictures in order, so these are not in order, but they are still great!

Walking to the market. CJ picked out her whole outfit by herself.

CJ loves the balloon lady at the market. She even spent her own money for her Flower balloon.

Kiddos napping and drooling on the way home, I think they're dreaming of the huckleberry shakes and pancakes I promised them.

They were sitting in the far back, playing robot. They put both their arms into the pringles can and then waved it around a bit. That's being a robot.

Finally done for the day and ready to pack up and go make some shakes.

We forgot the bug spray.

Dirt slide. Entertaining for awhile. Surprisingly easy to get their clothes clean.

I Told You So!

My Mom didn't believe me when I said that all the pancakes I was making came out looking like they had nipples. So she told me to take a pictue. Here it is, you decide, do you see nipples?

Zoo

I was complaining to a friend that we're not using our Zoo pass as much as years past. The next morning I woke up and thought, stop complaining, you're the parent, go to the Zoo! The kiddos had fun, I had fun. It's just not as special as it used to be. I don't know if we're going to renew our pass at the end of next month. Anyway, here's the pics...

Cruisin in the Jeep.

There's Giraffs in this picture, I promise.

CJ and Brian are going to create a band and call it, Music and perform free concerts at the Zoo!

This is the closest we've seen the male lion. He's usually hiding in the tall grass.

Sweet Hut!

Cotton candy sugar high

What's a trip to the Zoo without crawling into the nest?

They loved the little frog exibits that are all over the Zoo

This slide is super cool, it's right up against the outdoor part of the spider monkey habitat. It's Brian and CJ's favorite part. They get to climb up the steps make faces and noises with the monkeys and then slide down the sweet twisty tube slide.

CJ on the camel

At least they're not permanent, like mine!

Tame the beast!

Spot the CJ

This is always our first stop.

Update

I had a pretty good week. I did skip the gym on Friday and on Tuesday. Friday because I just did not feel like going. Tuesday afternoon I started to feel just down right crummy. Other than those two little hiccups, I was awesome! I'm down another 2.4 pounds for a total of 33.6 pounds!! I can't believe that I've lost that much. I pass a mirror and don't recognize the face staring back at me! I still think of myself as a fat girl. Technically I'm only 1 pound from a healthy weight. I still have 16-21 pounds to go. I feel great. I'm trying a new recipe for dinner tonight. If it's any good I'll post it on the food blog http://www.dinneronmymind.blogspot.com

Random

CJ, wearing her crayon behind her ear like Daddy wearing his pencil behind his ear.

His future is so bright he's gotta wear shades, even to bed.

At what age should I stop them from sleeping in the same bed?

Sunday Fun!

Sunday morning I decided we needed some one on one time with the kids. CJ and I did what girls do best, and went to the mall. ;) Kyle decided to take Brian and his skate board to the skate park.

The very first store we saw was a bridal store. We stood outside the windows for about 20 minutes while CJ told me about every single detail that she liked and didn't like on every dress we could see from the window. After that, CJ wanted to go inside the store. I told her we could if she promised not to touch anything, I'm proud of her, her little hands stayed in folder right in front of her. She was very good. She's four and I think she might already be picking out her prom dress.

On our way out the mall, I decided to call and order a pizza for lunch. While I was on the phone, I showed CJ how to roll like a log down the grassy hill! She loved it. In her own words, she said, "I went super, duper, uper, snoofer fast!"

These are all pictures that Kyle took in the morning when it was just Kyle and Brian at the park. After they came home Brian wouldn't stop talking about it. He talked about it so much that even CJ wanted to go after dinner. P.S. Before you say it, I know, he needs new grip tape. It's on the list.

I love how happy he looks in this picture!

Good news! There's no board in this picture!

What was I thinking? Allowing Brian to take his board to a skate park?! Is anyone else a little worried about the sure to follow ER trip?

But that smile is incredible!

What a little dare devil, going down backwards!

King of the hill!

Practicing going down without the board.

Chasing the board that got away.

Look at him go!

He is just too cool!

This was towards the end of our evening, CJ was just totally self entertained on this ramp. She would climb up with her board and roll down, and just keep rolling until she either hit something or until the board finally would come to a complete stop.

Ready?

These are some cool kids! But that's just this Mother's perspective.

Kyle, helping Brian stay on his feet.

There she goes again! By the time we left their hands, legs, faces, ok any exposed skin was filthy black. There was some serious scrubbing in the shower when we got home!

Kyle is helping CJ down the ramp for the first time. Sorry these pictures are not really in order.

Doing what he does best.

Do you notice the one very important difference between the morning pictures from when it was just Brian and Kyle and the evening pictures from when I went with them? More safety measures. When Kyle took him, he only brought a helmet. When CJ and I went, we also brought along all the knee pads and elbow pads!

In-ba-wass-ing

Whenever Brian wants to stall for time he says, "Wait, wait! I gotta tell you something! At the water park, water came out of the ground and got my shirt wet." He uses this ploy at least once a day, usually at bed time. For some reason he started saying it to CJ in the car. She stopped him before he was done and said, "Brian you always say, at the water park water came out of the ground and got your shirt wet. Stop. It's embarwassing me!" Misspelled to show pronoucation.
This morning when I was telling this story to Kyle, CJ said to me, "Mom! You're embarwassing me! Stop!"

Corn beef and Cabbage

That's what we had for dinner! It was totally worth the hot kitchen. A couple weeks ago my Sister posted our Mom's recipe on the food blog (http://www.dinneronmymind.blogspot.com), when she did that I told Kyle that I was going to make it next time he goes out of town. He always curled up his nose whenever I mentioned making it before, so when he's out of town seemed like a good idea to me. He kind of made a pouty face and asked that I wait for him to make it. I was confused, he said that last year when I made him try it, he really liked it!!!!! Anyway... last night our neighbor gave me some cabbage out of her garden. Kyle came back home this morning! It was the dinner that was meant to be.
During dinner Brian kept getting up and down from the table. He couldn't decide if he wanted to try it or not. CJ on the other hand was inhaling the corn beef. She couldn't get enough of it. I was bribing her with more meant to eat her veggies. I was in the kitchen starting the dishes when I heard the following conversation:
Brian getting up to the table again: I don't like this
CJ, on her third or fourth helping: What don't you like?
Brian: This
CJ: Oh! It's just good! You gotta try it!
loooooooong pause
Brian: I LIKE THIS!

From there I bribed Brian with meat to eat his veggies! It was a totally yummy dinner. The only leftovers I have is a giant pile of fat (yuck) and potatoes. I don't know what's for dinner tomorrow, but whatever it is, we'll be having little red potatoes with it! I am so full, and now dishes are done, we went for a walk and life is good.
